Bluxvan works through two complementary pathways to stop fungal development and protect the crop. The DMI component inhibits C14-demethylase (CYP51), an enzyme involved in sterol biosynthesis. This essential sterol is needed to build and maintain the fungal cell membrane. This restricts fungal growth and development. The QoI component acts at the Qo site of the cytochrome bc1 complex (Complex III) in the fungal electron-transport chain. This component acts on the fungus’s energy-producing system, disrupting respiration and reducing the energy required for spore germination and fungal growth. By acting at different sites within the fungal pathogen, Bluxvan combines protective and curative activity, helping prevent disease establishment and restrict its further development.
